GKA is a dojo where you can learn and deepen Kendo, a traditional Japanese martial art, which descended from samurai swordsmanship (kenjutsu) and uses bamboo swords (shinai) and protective gears (bogu) in Atlanta Georgia since 1977.

General

We are pleased to announce another Joint Practice (Godo Keiko) this month on November 23, from 4:30-7:00 with our friends at Georgia Kendo Club (GKC).

We are hoping that we can do joint practice every 4th Saturday in the future as well.

If you're available, please try to come early and attend! This is a great opportunity to practice with kendoka outside of our club, and practice with several high ranking sensei. Jeon sensei is also 7th dan, and many of the other high ranking members were a part of GKA in the past.

Beginners (no bogu) will have a separate class as usual, but everyone else in bogu will be part of the large class.

Saturday (Summerour Middle School Gym)
321 Price Pl NW, Norcross, GA 30071

4:30pm - 5:30pm, Beginner’s class
5:00pm - 7:15pm, Bogu class (overlap, we now have enough space!)

Wednesday (STUDIO 87 Yoga studio)
87 S Peachtree St, Norcross, GA 30071

8:00pm - 9:15PM, bogu only class

Cost:

Starting January 2024, prices are as follows:

GKA Member price:
3 dan and below members: $50/month
3 dan and below family rate: $40/month (per person, same household)
4-dan and above: free of charge

GKA Yearly registration: $30 (starts in March)
SEUSKF/AUSKF: TBD, previously $100

Non-member Guest fees
$10 per session

We do ask that our members attend Saturday practice regularly unless you have a conflict and need to take a break from kendo. Wednesday is optional for bogu members. Feel free to email us if you have any questions.

All fees go towards renting facitilies for class
