BEGINNER I
Introductory class for students interested in Kendo
: Curriculum
The class emphasizes on basic sitting positions:
sit down on the floor (seiza)
knee-bent squat (sonkyo)
basic stances (kamae)
footwork (ashi-sabaki)
proper form to hold and swing the sword (shinai)
Kendo philosophy also emphasized.
Equipment:
Aside from being physically fit to practice martial arts, you are required to bring the following equipment:

Shinai (bamboo sword) with guard, size 39 for adult males and size 38 for adult females of average stature. Size for minors varies depending on height. For more information on the length of the shinai, please refer to this link.

Exercise clothing, such as shorts, sweatpants, and a t-shirt. Kendogi (kendo training uniform) consisting of hakama (pant/skirt) and kendo keikoki (shirt) are optional.
Note: do not wear any jewelry or watches. Bare feet only in the practice area!

BOGU CLASS - BEGINNERS
This class is geared towards members that are just getting started with bogu or are in kyu level.
This class is held at the same time as the beginner class, from 4:30pm until 5:30 pm.
Curriculum:
kirikaeshi sequence
coordination of the entire body (kikentaiichi)
proper big men strike
proper fumikomi strike
jumping men strike
proper etiquette for rotation and class format
BOGU CLASS - ADVANCED
This is our regular class for members that in bogu armor and are able to perform the basics covered in the beginners bogu class.
Practices are held on Saturdays from 5:30 PM to 7:15 PM
Wednesdays from 8:15 to 9:30 PM
Curriculum:
kata + bokuto waza
big and small strikes
waza (degashira, etc.)
sparring (keiko)
When classes exceed 10 students,
we ask that the kakaritei (hitters) line up in multiples of 2 or 3 per mododachi (reciever)
